Abstract

How does textual culture change? How do genres turn into new forms, how do texts and books change through use and in performance? When does variation turn into change? This book addresses different aspects of change in the textual culture of medieval Europe, including texts on parchment and paper and epigraphic material of different kinds, as well as the aural and performative dimension of texts.
