Discourse linguistics and morphology have had little in common in previous research. Traditional discourse linguistics often only considers morphological questions marginally, and word formation, despite the shift to usage-based aspects in recent years, still takes the text as the primary communicative reference point. This volume aims to shed light on the interfaces between the two disciplines by systematically focusing on the relevance of morphology for discourse linguistic topics on the one hand and discourse for morphological studies on the other. It deals with basic theoretical foundations as well as empirical-methodological challenges and individual case analyses. The majority of the contributions are based on Foucault's concept of discourse, but some also on the conversation-analytically oriented concept of discourse. The volume makes it clear that both discourse linguistics and morphology benefit from this approach and aims to encourage further research on this interface.
